This course provides valuable training to candidates for the 'Part 3' examination.

Post Part 2 Professional Experience Support

If you are considering presenting yourself for the Examination in Professional Practice and Management (Part 3 Examination) and have graduated from a Part 2-level degree, we advise that you register for Post Part 2 Professional Experience Support as soon as you find employment .

Please note that the Part 3 Examination in Scotland is administered and conducted by APEAS Ltd (the Architects’ Professional Examinations Authority Scotland Limited). Further information is available on the APEAS website under Related Links.

Before you can sit the examination you must have a minimum of 24 months experience logged, including a minimum of 12 months with an architect in the UK.

Post Part 2 Support And Registration

Candidates are required to pay a £130 fee for the validation of four RIBA Professional Experience and Development Records (PEDRs). This support is normally provided within a year from date of registration. Registration/support is renewable on an annual basis or pro rata at £40 per PEDR.

Registration with the University for Part 2 support entitles you to visitor status including access to the University’s libraries, a swipe card for the School and access to the online course for Updates in Architectural Management. Please note you are not a fully matriculated University of Edinburgh student.

Professional Studies courses

For additional support, Part 3 candidates can now also participate in a series of Professional Studies Lectures, on the payment of the appropriate fee.

Updates in Architectural Management Course and The Contract Game

We also offer a 3-day Updates in Architectural Management (UAM) Course once a year in June. This course is aimed at candidates registered to sit the Part 3 exam in November of that year.

A 2-day optional exercise, The Contract Game, has also recently been introduced to our programme.
