Writing your proposal
You will need to submit a research proposal or plan as part of your application.
Your research proposal or plan should be 1000 words in length and submitted as part of your application through the University's online application service, EUCLID.
A research proposal helps us to assess your suitability for a research degree and to determine whether we can offer you supervision.
You can find out if we will be able to provide appropriate supervision for your interests by looking at our Research section and staff profiles.
Proposal requirements
The proposal should:
- Have a title.
- Explain the particular topic or question that you wish to study.
- Briefly summarise any existing research on the topic, making reference to publications as appropriate.
- Give a clear outline of the research you intend to do.
You are not committed to following this exact proposed research if accepted.
We do not usually respond to research proposals sent without an application.
Applications received without a research proposal will not be considered.
