I've just retired after spending most of my career at York, ending as Head of Department in Economics. A group of Edinburgh Economics grads and staff were among the founders of York (e.g. Peacock, Hutton, Dosser, Bostock, Maratchi, France, Davenport); and there were other Edinburgh people from other subjects among the pioneers. It has been a very successful undertaking. I enjoy coming back to Edinburgh where I have family. I still have a number of academic activities - e.g. research supervision, external examining, and some advisory work.
