Centre for the Study of Christian OriginsBiography
My broad academic interest is the first century or so of Christianity, along with the Jewish and Greco-Roman worlds of which it was part. My principal areas of research are the Pauline epistles, early Christian Christology, and ancient biblical interpretation. I came to Edinburgh in 2012, before which I taught biblical studies at Duke University Divinity School and North Carolina State University. I undertook my graduate research at Princeton Theological Seminary, Princeton University, and the University of Pennsylvania, and I hold the Ph.D. in Biblical Studies from Princeton Theological Seminary.
