Biography
Trained in philosophy and theology, David Fergusson worked for several years as a parish minister in the Church of Scotland. Prior to returning to Edinburgh where he held a lectureship from 1986, he was Professor of Systematic Theology in the University of Aberdeen (1990–2000).
He has delivered the Bampton Lectures in Oxford (2001), the Gifford Lectures in Glasgow (2008), the Warfield Lectures in Princeton (2009) and has lectured widely in the USA, Europe, Hong Kong, Japan, Korea and Australia. In 2013, he will deliver the Birks Lectures at McGill University, Montreal and the Hulsean sermon at the University of Cambridge. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh.
