In the Biblical Studies subject group in Edinburgh, my niche is located historically in the exilic period, in literary terms in the prophetic and poetic writings, and thematically in the broad area of biblical theology and ethics.

My recent publications mostly explore the interface between biblical theology and ethics. Two areas in particular provide 'worked examples' for this exploration: (1) interpersonal forgiveness; and (2) politics and the Hebrew prophets.

My advanced, honours course teaching relates to my current research and writing: the theology of the Hebrew Scriptures, Politics and the Old Testament, and studies in Hebrew language.

I am also involved with the Semantics of Ancient Hebrew Database project.
