The safety and security of the children in our care is a prime concern of all our staff.

To ensure the health and well-being of the children, all of our childcare staff are qualified in Paediatric First Aid. A number of our staff also have an additional "First Aid at Work" qualification.
All of our staff have attended the University's Fire Safety training and are qualified Fire Stewards.
We practice our evacuation procedures with the children by holding regular fire drills.
Should an emergency occur, it is vital that your contact telephone numbers are up to date.
If you move house or job, please be sure to inform us of your new details.
To regulate entry to the house and garden, access through all doors or gates is controlled by security pads.
Please ensure you close all doors behind you on entering or leaving, and please do not allow your child to open the main doors.
It is important that you sign your child in and out each day, as this sheet is used as a checklist in the event of us having to leave the building in an emergency.
All visitors to the Nursery are also signed-in and are accompanied at all times.
We have a Child Protection Policy that all staff must follow where there are concerns about a child. Should any parent wish to see this or any other policy, please ask at the office.
Additional Support Needs: An additional support need comes from anything which is a barrier to learning. The education authority has many legal duties towards children with additional support needs. Information about this is contained in a booklet called In On The Act: Information for the General Public which is published on the education authority website or contact the additional support for learning team on telephone number 0131 469 3444.
We have an Additional Support policy in place. This includes children whose first language is not English, exceptionally gifted children, separating/divorcing parents, new babies, bereavement, moving house, multiple/sole carer situations and any other significant situations that may affect the child.
Whilst every effort is made to ensure that the Nursery is a safe place, accidents can unfortunately happen, and children are occasionally injured.
In the event of this happening, you will be informed and asked to sign the Accident Book. A copy of the report will be given to you.
