Biggies

The Biggies take part in a huge range of activities every day.

The Biggies group

Age group: 3 to 4 years old (approximately)

Staff-child ratio: 1:8

Maximum: 16 children

Activities

A toddler playing with farm animals

The children are very keen to practice and develop newly acquired skills - painting, drawing, gluing and working with a variety of materials; listening to and telling stories; enjoying music and singing. They cook and bake, and take turns to be server to their friends at snack and lunch time.

Friendships are made with other children and adults, decisions taken and problems solved - all part of their learning and development, and preparation for school.

Their learning is guided by a government initiative, the "The Curriculum for Excellence" framework, which aims to ensure that all the children and young people of Scotland develop the attributes, knowledge and skills they will need if they are to flourish in life, learning and work, now and in the future.
