Use these guides to make sure you stay consistent with University style in all of your publications.

Editorial style guide

This style guide is a reference tool for University staff, external suppliers, and freelance copyeditors.

It outlines the English standard for all online and printed University publications, including brochures, prospectuses, reports, and the media.

All University publications do not currently adhere strictly to these new guidelines. It is our intention to update our publications as and when they are up for renewal in the publishing timetable.

Images in the gallery are freely available to members of staff of The University of Edinburgh for use within teaching and learning or as a recruitment or marketing resource.

Writing for the web guidelines

These guidelines highlight why online information should be structured differently to printed materials, and provide hints on how we can make the University's website easier to read.

They are intentionally non-technical, and should be read by anyone who provides information to be published online.
