About WRVS's attendance at the 2012 Edinburgh Graduate Recruitment Fair.
WRVS
WRVS is a national charity helping older people in the communities where they live. It is one of the largest volunteering charities in Britain with 50,000 volunteers. Over 70% of people who use our services say their lives are better as a result. Our services help people in their own homes and help people get out and about in their area and in hospitals. We can help whole communities in an emergency. WRVS delivers practical support through the power of volunteering so every older person can live the life they want.
Opportunities
WRVS volunteers delivery a variety of services in this area and we are looking for more volunteers to help with our shops and cafes in Edinburgh Hospitals, Books on Wheels, as well as our Good Neighbours and Community Transport in East Lothian. Volunteering has consistently been shown to be very helpful to students and graduates on two levels: a) personal - building life skills by interaction with people in novel situations b) CV-booster - demonstrating to potential employers that this person is proactive and is willing to give their time to help their community.
