New report is a timely reminder of the opportunities available to graduates outwith the high profile graduate schemes.
The ‘Real Prospects 2011’ survey asked employed and self employed graduates (of UK Universities 2006 - 2010) to share their experience of working life.
Many are in jobs they never knew existed when they were students, and feel current students should be introduced to a wider variety of roles earlier, particularly opportunities they might find in small or medium-sized (SME) businesses. Respondents were keen to make sure these were not seen as ‘second best’ to traditional occupations and big graduate schemes.
Encouragingly, new research from GE Capital, reveals that UK SMEs plan to create 470,000 new jobs in the coming year as optimism over future growth outweighs uncertainty over the future of the UK economy.
