This page provides details of the University of Edinburgh Careers Service policy for working with recruitment agencies.
Terms and conditions for recruitment agencies
The Careers Service deals with private agencies representing employers where:
- an employer has commissioned the agency to act on their behalf and the agency states which employer it represents, provides information about, and selects only for the named employer
- we are satisfied that such representation is clearly in the interests of students and graduates of the University
We will therefore accept and advertise vacancies provided that the employer is declared by the agency and named in the vacancy entry.
We apply the same principles to commercial organisations offering agency-type services on the Internet. Therefore, these do not normally receive publicity, have links on our website or participate in careers fairs or other Careers Service activities.
The Careers Service publishes a survey of Edinburgh recruitment agencies every two years. If you are based in Edinburgh and the Lothians and would like to participate in the survey please contact the SAGE team by email.
Some agencies have claimed, or hinted at having, an association with the University Careers Service. As a matter of principle we do not endorse or support any particular commercial agency.

Advertising graduate jobs on behalf of another company
To advertise your graduate jobs, and to comply with our policy, you should first register your company, and then create additional employer profiles for each of your clients.
Advertising part time jobs on behalf of another company
To advertise your part time jobs, and to comply with our policy, you should complete our vacancy template. Include the full contact details of both your company and your client.
