Our four broad research Themes bring together researchers with shared interests and goals.
Associated with each Theme is a Research Centre which has a more tightly-focused remit. Our Centres help us to develop collaborative research with other disciplines, or to delve into very focused fundamental science through a concentration of highly-specified facilities.
Our Institutes form a structure for staff management and development, enabling core disciplines and teaching programmes to be effectively sustained and developed.
Establishment of Interdisciplinary Centres has been central to our strategy to build out from a strong disciplinary base in order to work in the overlap areas.
Our Institutes support excellence in our core biological disciplines by providing a stable structure for management, staff development. and teaching.
