We offer three-year and four-year PhD programmes, tailored to fit your needs. Projects are available in all of our research areas.
As a research student you will be based in one of our Research Institutes, and will also be a member of the Graduate School of Biological Sciences.

Your training
We offer two routes to a PhD: a four-year programme which includes a substantial training element, and a three-year PhD programme for students with a strong background in their chosen area. We will discuss the options with you at interview stage. From 2012 we are proud to offer an enhanced four year training programme as part of the EASTBIO Doctoral Training Partnership.
All our PhD projects are tailored to your development needs and you will have the option to attend the courses you need to develop your scientific skills.
Being a PhD student in the Graduate School of Biological Sciences will help you develop a wide range of professional and transferable skills to prepare you for your future career. All PhD students in the Graduate School of Biological Sciences are encouraged to take part in our comprehensive programme of training, as well as the broader training provided by the world-leading Institute for Academic Development.
