Research interests we support, funding sources and how to make an application.
If you are an outstanding cell, molecular or structural biologist and would like to establish an independent research group in either the Institute of Cell Biology or the Institute of Structure and Molecular Biology at the University of Edinburgh, then we should be pleased to consider sponsoring you for a fellowship to make this possible.
For more information about the School visit the links below.
We have a long track record of sponsoring successful candidates for research fellowships. In 2010-2011 there will be sixteen Fellows working within ICB or ISMB, each of whom has access to all our research facilities and to research council and institutional PhD studentships.
Those we select for sponsorship will be guided in developing their fellowship applications and in preparing for and an interview should they be short-listed. Successful candidates will be given help in establishing their research in Edinburgh and, through a regular mentoring programme, advice in developing their research so that they can win continued fellowship support or go on to take up an academic post in Edinburgh or elsewhere.
The following websites give details on funding sources available for Fellowships
If you would like to be sponsored for a research fellowship by ICB or ISMB then please contact David Finnegan (Head of ICB), Malcolm Walkinshaw (Head of ISMB), or any member of either Institute.
