Online applications: offers of accommodation

We aim to give you the result of your online application for accommodation at the earliest possible opportunity.

When will I hear the result of my application?

For students who are starting courses at the beginning of the first Semester in September, we do not normally send out any actual offers of accommodation before 30 June. As a general rule, you can expect to receive your offer by the following dates:

New undergraduates (freshers)

Late July for those whose place at the University of Edinburgh is already Unconditional Firm.

4 September for those whose place is Conditional Firm, Unconditional Insurance or Conditional Insurance.

Visiting and exchange students

Between 30 June and 31 August for those covered by our guarantee.

New postgraduates

From 31 July onwards for those covered by our guarantee.

All applicants arriving after the start of the academic year in September

We aim to send offers of accommodation - or details of other assistance - about four weeks before your arrival. January entrants should therefore expect to hear from us by early December.

How will I hear the result of my application?

If you used our online application system to apply for housing, any offer of accommodation will be sent to you online. Similarly, your acceptance of any such offer will also be online.
