APPLICATIONS FOR ACCOMMODATION 2013-14
We are intending to accept applications towards the end of February from new students wanting University accommodation in the coming year 2013-14.
IT IS IMPORTANT YOU DO NOT APPLY FOR ACCOMMODATION UNTIL WE CONFIRM THE SERVICE IS AVAILABLE.
Between now and then, we will be updating the information for new and prospective students on this website; including details of the types, locations and prices of the accommodation available.
What we do know is that demand from students guaranteed an offer of accommodation in the next academic year 2013-14 is very high. As a result, we have again gone to the private sector and sourced further accommodation for our new students. But this means nothing other than the choice and value options available to you actually increase.
- Your accommodation contract will still be with the University of Edinburgh and all the arrangements will be essentially the same as for all our normal University owned or managed properties;
- They are all provided by companies who already operate within the student accommodation sector and all are committed to working with us to ensure you receive the standards appropriate to our normal service;
- They are all in locations convenient to the centre of Edinburgh and to the University;
- We have taken large enough allocations in each of the properties to ensure you will be sharing with plenty of other University of Edinburgh students and indeed we shall also be delivering all the usual Residence Life support and welfare services in these locations;
- Much of this additional accommodation is in en-suite single study bedrooms, so you don’t need to share bathroom facilities; this is something the University has not really been able to offer previously and is something we know is in increasingly popular demand;
- You are not paying any more; the prices match the nearest equivalents within our own normally available accommodation;
- Finally, you can express preference for them as you can for all our accommodation when you make your application.
