The Student Discipline Committee exercises the disciplinary jurisdiction of the University Senatus.
It is the role of the Discipline Committee to hear and adjudicate upon individual cases of alleged breaches of the Code of Student Discipline. This may be as a tribunal of first instance in serious cases brought to it in accordance with Section 5 (a) of the Code of Student Discipline. Or it may be in the case of appeal of the summary decision of an Authorised Officer, in accordance with Section 4.1 of the Code of Student Discipline.
The Discipline Committee consists of six members of the academic staff of the University and six matriculated students of the University. Members are appointed by the Senate on the nomination of the Standing Commission on Discipline. The Committee meets as and when required.
