Appeal committees
The University has an Undergraduate Appeal Committee and a Postgraduate Appeal Committee.
The Undergraduate Appeal Committee considers any academic appeals submitted by undergraduate students,whilst the Postgraduate Appeal Committee considers any academic appeals submitted by postraduate students. Both Committees comprises a broad range of academic staff from each of the University's three colleges.
Role of the appeal committees
The Appeal Committees have two primary functions:
- To consider and decide whether individual academic appeals have established grounds for appeal according to the University's assessment regulations
- To gather further evidence at appeal committee hearings and to decide, on the basis of that information, whether an appeal should be upheld or rejected.
Membership
Appeal Committee members are nominated by their Colleges and are experienced members of academic staff, usually with considerable relevant teaching experience.
