Overview
Our team provides administrative support for the University’s senior academic committees, particularly the Senatus Academicus (Senate) and a number of its standing committees.
Senatus Academicus
Senate is the senior academic committee at the University of Edinburgh.
Committees of Senate
Researcher Experience Committee
Responsible, on behalf of the Senatus, for postgraduate research degree training, higher degrees and provision for the training of other, early career researchers.
Learning and Teaching Committee
Responsible, on behalf of the Senatus, for undergraduate, taught postgraduate and other forms of academic provision, apart from postgraduate research and higher degrees.
Curriculum and Student Progression Committee
Responsible, on behalf of the Senatus, for the academic regulatory framework apart from those aspects which are primarily parts of either the Code of Student Discipline or the Quality Assurance Framework.
Quality Assurance Committee
Responsible, on behalf of the Senatus, for the University's academic quality assurance framework.
A variety of task groups of Senate committees are also supported by our team.
Other committees
Student Experience Forum
Forum for the University administration and the Students' Association to discuss matters of common concern.
Student Survey Ethics Committee
Assesses requests to survey the University's student body from external organisations, individuals and internal members of the University.
Student Support Implementation Group
Coordinates the implementation work in support of the framework of proposals for an enhanced approach to guidance and support for students (Enhancing Student Support project).
