Staff and students at The Easter Bush Campus have developed an extensive and varied programme of public engagement and outreach events including theCampus Open Day as part of the Midlothian Science Festival, school visits and activities on Campus such as the innovative work experience programme Science Insights and the "Hands-On Pathology - Understanding Disease" event.

The award also recognised the work carried out by clinical staff and students who provide advice and a basic veterinary service across a number of Edinburgh housing associations, including the student-led veterinary care provided to the homeless in the area.

As one of the major employers in Midlothian, The Easter Bush Campus is also participating in schemes that promote employment in the area and in aspiration-raising projects such as Career Ready, a 2 year mentoring scheme for 4th/5th year high school students in the local area.

Our relationship with the local community is very important to us and we are delighted to receive this award in recognition of our commitment and our engagement locally. Winning this award is due to outstanding work and dedication by our staff across a great many initiatives and I am very pleased that this award has highlighted this aspect of our work with the community.
