Background

I have over twenty years’ experience in qualitative research and teaching in the health field.  I am a social scientist who started my research in cancer care at the University of Stirling where I also gained an MSc in Health Psychology. I moved to the University of Edinburgh in 2007 when I started my PhD and subsequently two post doctoral fellowships and numerous research projects in the field of secondhand smoke in the home and parents and children’s experiences. Since moving into teaching and management, I have worked on Masters’ programmes in global eHealth, MPH campus and the MPH online programmes. Since January 2021, I am co-directing the successful Master of Public Health online programme, an APHEA (Agency for Public Health Education Accreditation) accredited MPH programme at the Usher Institute. I am an HEA Fellow and the Director of Quality for the Deanery of Molecular, Genetic and Population Health Sciences since 2020.
