Background
After a career in industry Mark changed direction to study Scottish history at the University of Edinburgh at undergraduate and postgraduate level. Moving on from the study of the politics of land ownership and electoral politics of Scotland in the nineteenth centtury, Mark took up a position with the the EERC in 2004. whilst at the EERC, Mark has worked as an editor on the 'Scottish Life & Society: A Compendium of Scottish Ethnology' series (vols 6, 9, 10, 13). Mark is also the general editor of the 'Flashbacks' series and is the lead on the oral strand of the 'Regional Ethnology of Scotland Project, currently active in Dumfries and Galloway.
