Irene Kallimasioti-Pazi (BSc Hons Biological Sciences (Molecular Genetics) University of Edinburgh)

PhD student

Background

Irene is currently doing a PhD in Andrew Wood's lab. She has previously graduated from the University of Edinburgh in June 2015 with an Honors degree in Biological Sciences, specialising in Molecular Genetics. In September 2015 Irene started her postgraduate degree as part of the MRC Human Genetics Unit postgraduate program, having received a 4-year studentship. After rotating in three different labs she chose to do her PhD in the Wood Lab and investigate the effect of chromatin in CRISPR/Cas9 efficiency and DNA repair.

Current research interests

Understanding how chromatin influences CRISPR/Cas9 accessibility and enzymatic activity, as well as repair of a generated double-strand break.
