Head of Languages for All

Background

Anxela Fernández Alonso holds a Master's degree in Spanish as a Foreign Language form the University of Barcelona. She has an extensive experience in language teaching, curriculum development and the Common European Frame work of language and its application at The university of Edinburgh, topic of her Master's dissertation. 

She has worked for The University of Edinburgh for more than a decade. 

Anxela  works as Head of Languages for All in charged of  BSL (British Sign Language), Gaelic,  French, Italian, Portuguese and Spanish at the Center for Open Learning, where she is in charge of the all year round planning and the Quality and Assurance of the courses offered in those languages.

  • Postgraduate Certificate in Spanish as a Foreign Language, Universidad de Barcelona, Spain.
  • Certicate in Spanish as a Foreign Language,  International House, Madrid, Spain.
  • Postgraduate Certificate in Educacion, Universidad de Santiago de Compostela, Spain. 
  • Undergraduate Degree in Philosophy, Universidad de Santiago de Compostela, Spain. 

Undergraduate teaching

Anxela has taught for the Department of European Languages and Cultures the undergraduate courses of Spanish 1A ,SPanish 1B, Spanish 2 and Foundation Spanish Language 1 and 2.

For the Center of Open Learning she has designed and taught courses from Spanish A1 to Spanish C1.
