Title: Knowing more but using it less: How aging affects representation and control of semantic knowledge

Abstract: I will present some data from a study I've been running looking at individual differences in verbal semantic abilities. The main finding is that older people know more but are less good at controlled, goal-directed use of their knowledge. If there's time, I'll also talk about possible "real life" impacts of these changes on people's ability to speak coherently.
