Title: Dynamic structural compatibilism

Abstract: Compatibilists must give an account of freedom compatible with the truth of determinism. One of the most popular compatibilist accounts is Frankfurt’s structural account of desire. Here I identify two problems for the account, and suggest that they stem from a static and incomplete view of the will. Drawing from behavioral science, I suggest how his view can be augmented by insights from George Ainslie, and consider how such an amended view fares as an account of freedom.
