Discretionary Funds available for UK students

We understand that students can often find it hard to cope financially during their time at university.

We understand that students can often find it hard to cope financially during their time at university. Additional financial help is available for UK students experiencing financial difficulties from the Discretionary Fund, which is provided by the Scottish Government.

At present we still have funds to award in the 2013-2014 session. We recommend eligible students to apply as soon as possible, as the fund is limited.

Students can apply more than once in the same academic session, and are encouraged to apply even if they have previously been awarded Discretionary Funds by the University.

Eligibility

You must be from Scotland, England, Wales or Northern Ireland to apply.

To qualify, you must be able to demonstrate all of the following:

  • You have applied for your full income-assessed student loan entitlement and received your first instalment
  • You have already exhausted all other possible sources of funding
  • You are currently experiencing financial hardship

International and EU students are not eligible to apply for these funds.
