The car parks have been awarded the British Parking Association’s Park Mark award, which means Safer Parking status has been achieved.

Secure environment

The car parks were independently assessed by Lothian and Borders Police.

The award was granted because sufficient measures had been put in place to deter criminal activity and create a safe and secure environment.

The award recognised the overall quality management and cleanliness of the parking facility, and the use of good lighting and effective surveillance.

We welcome initiatives such as this one by the University’s support staff and Security to work with the British Parking Association to provide secure parking. It reduces the chances of anyone becoming the victim of crime. It demonstrates what people working in partnership can achieve.
