Improvements to King’s Buildings bus services

The University is rolling out a series of improvements to its bus services between the Central Area and King's Buildings.

These improvements have been introduced following an evaluation of the Service 41 pilot carried out in March 2017.

New timetable

The University provides a free shuttle bus service for students and staff who need to travel rapidly between Central Area and King's Buildings to meet their academic timetable.

There is a new shuttle bus timetable for 2017-18, effective from Monday 11 September: http://edin.ac/2wiSHvA

This provides a new service from the Central Area to King's Buildings at 09:53 and a consistent, easier to remember 20 minute frequency timetable during the day.

New bus stops

The Central Area bus stop has changed to Bristo Square, next to the student centre at Potterrow.

This bus stop provides more space for passengers to wait for the bus, and when the Bristo Square redevelopment is completed in autumn 2017, there will be seating and a bus shelter.

The King's Buildings bus stop is also being upgraded with a large bus shelter.

Evening £1 fare on Service 41

To better support access to facilities at King’s Buildings during the evenings, students and staff will be able to use Lothian Buses Service 41 for just £1 after 6.30pm.

The offer will be available from Monday to Friday, beginning on Monday 18 September 2017.
