Review of the Academic Year – Consultation

Consultation on the University's proposals on an alternative model for the academic year structure.

The University is reviewing the structure of the academic year to see whether a different structure would better meet the needs of students and staff.

A Task Group set up by the Senate Learning and Teaching Committee has developed a proposal for an alternative model for the academic year, and is seeking the views of staff and students on it.

Any changes would take effect no earlier than 2018/19.

Town Hall meetings

As part of the consultation, Town Hall meetings will take place in May for staff to hear more about the proposals, and ask any questions they may have:

  • 9 May 2016 – Central Area
  • 12 May 2016 – King’s Buildings
  • 16 May 2016 – Little France

Booking is available via MyEd (Event Booking - search for Review of the Academic Year) - Book here

Consultation information

There is also a website and materials which are designed to help staff understand what the proposed structure is, and how any changes might affect your area of work.

As part of the consultation process, a survey has been circulated to staff and students.
