Launch of Sustainability Awards

The University’s Sustainability Awards 2016 have launched

The awards are a nationally-accredited scheme that recognises efforts made by staff and students to help the University become more socially responsible and sustainable.

Take part

Teams from any part of the University can participate in the Sustainability Awards – either join an existing team or start your own by registering your interest.

Sustainability Awards

There are four different types of Award, so everyone at the University can get involved:

  • Office
  • Lab
  • Student Society
  • Student Residence

Benefits

By taking part, you’ll be joining a community of over 200 staff and students who are working to make a difference within the University.

You’ll have the opportunity to work as a team and develop skills.

Every year, teams make a big impact by finding new ways to conserve resources, save energy, fundraise for good causes and build links with the local community.

Your team will receive recognition for your achievements from senior members of the University.

If your team is successful, you will receive a locally-crafted and sustainably-sourced trophy, presented at the next Sustainability Awards ceremony.

Timeline

Teams can register their interest now. Criteria should be completed by the end of October 2016.

In November 2016, trained staff and student auditors will meet with you to review your efforts and give feedback on your team’s performance.

You will receive support from the Department for Social Responsibility and Sustainability throughout the process.
