Key strategic appointment

The University has appointed Pauline Jones as Head of Strategic Performance and Research Policy.

Ms Jones will take up her position, within Governance and Strategic Planning (GaSP), on 1 September 2014.

The newly created role brings together responsibility for the University’s Outcome Agreement, Strategic Plan 2012-16 and Research Excellence Framework (REF) return, and the improvement of its business and management information.

Broad perspective

Ms Jones is currently an Outcome Agreement Manager and Assistant Director at the Scottish Funding Council.

She has direct experience of the Research Assessment Exercise (now the REF) process from her time at Edinburgh Napier University, and brings a combination of funder and university perspectives to her new role.

I am very much looking forward to using my experience, both from the Funding Council and Edinburgh Napier, to help lead, develop and manage the Strategic Performance and Research Policy team in its contribution to the University’s strategic planning.

GaSP is part of the University’s Student and Academic Services Group (SASG).

The unit’s activities are grouped into three major areas of work:

• governance
• public policy.
