In 2012, as well as awarding the prizes as usual, we made a special award for the "Best of the James Tait Black" in fiction.

The award celebrated the fiction winners over the past 93 years, as part of the University's 250th English Literature anniversary.
The "Best of the James Tait Black" has been won by Angela Carter for Nights at the Circus.
2012 marked 250 years of the study of English Literature at Edinburgh.
The University hosted a year of lectures, exhibitions and activities to celebrate this milestone.
