The first students from Hong Kong came to study Medicine at the University over 70 years ago.
Since then many have followed in their footsteps and there are now around 450 Edinburgh alumni residing in Hong Kong.
The University also enjoys strong links with a variety of Hong Kong universities.
One of our most successful is with our Universitas 21 partner the University of Hong Kong (HKU) with whom we have a history of collaboration across our teaching and research activity.
The General Council is the means by which graduates have a voice in the management of the University’s affairs, and every graduate automatically becomes a member.
The General Council has played a key advisory role in the life of the University since 1858.
It has been involved in landmark events, such as the admission of women to the University.
