The University is offering over 120 PhD scholarships for new postgraduate research.
Three different programs are on offer:
Applications are invited for the schemes, which are open to students taking research degrees in any field of study, starting in 2011-2012.
The closing date for applications is Feb 1 2011.

The scholarship has changed and shaped my life so far. The scholarship gives students time, which is probably appreciated the most by doctoral students, and it has removed the need for me to work during semester - so my research progress is not affected.

Fifty-five PhD Scholarships are available to students from any country.
The scholarship includes a package of career training that allows PhD students to simultaneously develop skills in research, and also in teaching, public engagement, or entrepreneurship.
Each scholarship will cover the home rate of tuition fee as well as a stipend, which will increase each year.
Fifty overseas research scholarships are available to overseas PhD students undertaking a research degree in any field of study.
Each award covers the difference between the UK/EU rate of tuition fee and that chargeable to an overseas student.
Twenty scholarships are available for PhD study to candidates who are citizens and permanent residents of the People's Republic of China at the time of applying for entry for the academic year 2011-2012.
The University will provide scholarships to cover the tuition fees, while the China Scholarships Council will provide a living allowance, return airfare from China to the UK, and visa application fees.
