The University of Edinburgh has been listed in the top 20 universities in the world.
The Times Higher Education - QS World Rankings 2009 place Edinburgh 20th, a rise of three places on last year.
Now in their sixth edition, the rankings list the top 200 universities in the world.
This is recognition not only of the University's performance, but also of the high standard of teaching and research that characterises Scottish higher education, and helps position Scotland as a leading player in the new global knowledge economy.
