Professor Richard Leakey, a noted conservationist, will deliver this year's lecture.
Richard Leakey is Professor of Anthropology at Stony Brook University, State University of New York and Chairman of WildlifeDirect.
The public lecture, entitled "Climate change and wilderness - where are we headed?", will be held in the Assembly Hall, New College, at 5.30pm on Friday 18 September.
Professor Leakey is also a former Kenyan politician and chairman of the Kenyan Wildlife Service.
The William Dick Memorial Lecture, named after the founder of the Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies, takes place each year.
Previous speakers have included Sir David Attenborough and Nobel prizewinners, Dr Stanley Prusiner and Professor Rolf Zinkernagel.
Last year the lecture was given by Steve Jones, Professor of Genetics at University College London.
The lecture is free, but ticketed.
