The University has signed a funding agreement with one of the world’s biggest banks to support scholarships and enterprise.
The Principal, Professor Sir Timothy O’Shea signed the agreement with Steve Pateman, Santander’s Executive Director and Head of UK Banking, in Old College earlier this month.
This was followed by a lecture from Mr Pateman on Entrepreneurship, Early Stage Funding and SME Support.
The bank has pledged to fund £400,000 over a three year period.
This new funding will offer students and staff new scholarship opportunities and support a variety of entrepreneurship activities.
The funds will also go towards enhancing the University’s links with Latin America through the Centre for Latin American Studies.
The University has a strong, ongoing relationship with Santander.
The bank currently supports numerous initiatives, including 15 Masters Scholarships and funds entrepreneurial competitions for staff and students.
