Alexei Kudrin announced as Honorary Professor

Alexei Kudrin, who will be presenting a lecture on behalf of the Princess Dashkova Centre on Wednesday 1st of October on ‘New realities and challenges for Emerging markets after (and in) crisis: the case of Russia’, has been appointed as an Honorary Professor with in the School of Literatures, Languages and Cultures at the University of Edinburgh.

Prof. Alexei Kudrin is the former Russian Minister of Finance (from 2000 until 2011) and former Deputy Prime Minister (2000-2004, 2007-2011), a Dean of the Faculty of Liberal Arts and Sciences of the St. Petersburg State University, an honorary professor of the Department of Economics of St. Petersburg State University and the author of over 30 scientific works in economics and finance. In addition he is Head of Civil Initiatives Committee, a Non-Governmental Organisation which promotes human rights and development of civil society in Russia. He holds honorary degrees from Bard College (US), the Higher School of Economics (Moscow) and a number of other Russian Universities.

It is anticipated that this appointment will further strengthen our ties with venerable institutions in Russia such as St Petersburg University and the School looks forward to welcoming Honorary Professor Kudrin on a regular basis for these annual lectures.
