Church of Scotland and Free Church of Scotland

The University of Edinburgh Library has a historic partnership with the Church of Scotland which has formed the historic collections at New College Library. As part of this arrangement, the following library users are entitled to free external borrower membership. To register for this free membership, please call at the New College Library Helpdesk and present either an ID card or an official letter confirming your status within the Church.

Further information

Registration can take place at any library site but can only take place during Helpdesk staffed hours. You may fill in the application form online before visiting the library.

Please note that registration ceases 20 minutes prior to the Helpdesk closing.

 

Library opening hours

Your card can be used in the Main Library and all site libraries. Access to departmental or class libraries is not available.

Replacement cards (lost, stolen or expired)

If your card is lost, stolen or damaged you can get it replaced at a card helpdesk for a £10 fee.

If your card expires you must apply for a new one. To do this you must register with the library again and provide the required documentation as detailed above. All required documentation must be provided.

If you are a graduate of the University of Edinburgh, we would encourage you to join as an alumni borrower, which will give you an increased entitlement.

Reference only access

If you do not wish to borrow items from the library then you can join the library as a reference user (consultation only). This would require you to join as a member of the public.
