I get an error message about ezproxy when trying to access e-journals.

When trying to access online journals you may occasionally get a similar message to the one below:

Title

“Error: To allow http://jcb.rupress.org to be used in a starting point URL, your EZproxy administrator must first authorize the hostname of this URL in the ezproxy.cfg file.

Within this database’s section of ezproxy.cfg, the following line must be added: Host jcb.ripress.org The EZproxy server must then be restarted to make the change take effect.”

Why?

This problem is due to an error with the link to the e-journal.

How do I resolve this?

Firstly, please report the problem to the IS Helpline.

If you are on-campus or connected to the Virtual Private Network (VPN) you should still be able to access the online journal by going directly to the URL mentioned in the error message (in the above example this would be http://jcb.rupress.org).

Also try...

If ezproxy is unavailable, you may find that you can still access the resource by using links to the UK Access Management Federation, sometimes referred to as Shibboleth.

Access e-resources via UK Access Management Federation, also known as Shibboleth.
