Collections

Collections for Scandinavian studies at the University of Edinburgh.

The main collections of Scandinavian material (books and journals) are held in the Main Library, George Square.

Some older books are located in the Library Research Annexe from where items can be requested. All the materials are listed in the online catalogue.

Collection locations during the redevelopment of the Main Library

Due to the Main Library Redevelopment Project, books that are classified in the Library of Congress (LC) scheme (e.g. PD1503 Tor.) are located on the 4th floor (shelfmark P-Z) and 2nd floor (shelfmark A-N, from 6 September 2010 onwards).

The P-Z sequence will be moved to their final location on the 3rd floor once this floor is redeveloped in summer 2011.

Older books that are classified in the Dewey decimal scheme (e.g. .4011(48) Bor.) are temporarily on the 4th floor but from January 2011 onwards will be relocated to the Library Research Annexe.
