History of art collections

History of art collections in Edinburgh University Library.

Main Library

The main collections of history of art books and journals are held in the Main Library at George Square and are particularly strong in Classical, Chinese, Indian and Islamic art.

Current lending stock (standard loan and short loan) and reference books for the subject are shelved by Library of Congress (LC) classification shelfmarks N-NX.

Older lending stock (standard loan) is shelved by Dewey number .07 onwards.

Edinburgh College of Art (ECA) Library

The ECA collection consists of some 65,000 books and 300 periodical subscriptions along with DVDs, maps, slides and artists' books. ECA Library supports learning, teaching and research in architecture, landscape architecture, architectural history, history of art, and art and design.

Art and Architecture Library

The Art & Architecture Library holds a collection of books on art, art history and theory, which largely duplicates part of the Main Library collections.
