Census 1981 Small Area Statistics for England, Wales and Scotland

Access information: Single user CD-ROM workstation, Main Library.
Description: CD-ROM version of the complete 1981 Census Small Area Statistics (SAS) for all enumeration districts (Eds), wards, districts, counties and countries in Great Britain, and also the mid-1987 population estimates. Accompanying the database are boundary maps in vector format for electoral wards in England and Wales and postcode sectors in Scotland and centroid values for Eds. Data is displayed in maps, charts and tables.

Census Data Support Unit: Census Flow Data

Access information: Available on and off-campus from WICID (the Web-based Interface to Census Interaction Data). Choose Login via UK Federation. Registration is required. Follow the registration link for details.
Description: Census flow data (also known as interaction data) relate to flows of people between places, both origins and destinations.
Coverage: Migration and commuting data from the 1981, 1991, 2001 and 2011census data.

Census: Samples of Anonymised Records

Access information: Available on and off-campus from Cathie Marsh Centre for Census and Survey Research (CCSR). Choose Login via UK Federation. Also requires separate registration with the Census Registration Service follow the 'Access and Registration' link for details.
Description: Samples of anonymised records from the UK Census of Population for both the 1991 and 2001 Censuses.

Description: The service provides access and support for a range of historical datasets, promoting and facilitating increased and more effective use of data in research, learning and teaching.

Description:

The standard source for the quantitative facts of American history.  This resource brings together 37,000 data series on topics ranging from migration to health, education and crime. Custom tables can be created, and data downloaded in Excel and csv format

IBISWorld

Access information:

Access on or off campus.

Description:

IBISWorld is an online industry intelligence solution.  Each of its industry reports provides the most detailed performance data and analysis on the market; supply chain information; forecasts; risk scores; operating strengths and weaknesses; analysis of external drivers; major player market strategies; and industry profit and costs benchmarks. Reports are updated 1-4 times per year depending on how fast moving the industry is ensuring the most up to date research possible.  In addition to coursework/assignments, these reports would be of use to students researching industries for placements, future careers (including start up research) and interview preparation.  A user guide can be downloaded here.

Coverage: Covering over 400 UK industries at SIC L5, over 700 US industries at NAICS L5 and over 250 China industry reports.

Description:

IndiaStat provides India-specific socio-economic statistical facts and figures from various secondary level authentic sources. Includes 19 sector specific information including industry, education, health, banks and financial institutions, companies, co-operatives, crime and law, population, foreign trade, labour and workforce, housing, media, power, transport, urban-rural.  Provides socio-economic information on 31 Indian states and union territories.  Provides comprehensive information on 6 main geographical regions of India.  Data and statistics about India available on Indiastat.com can easily be downloaded in MS-Word/Excel/ HTML formats.

OECD iLibrary

Access information: Access on-campus. Access off-campus currently via VPN only.
Description: The iLibrary provides access to a substantial amount of free content, including the OECD Factbook, OECD Working Papers, Key Tables, Multilingual Summaries and most 'At a Glance' publications.
Alternative source: Not all content is subscribed to. An alternative source is the UK Data Service's UKDS.Stat service.
