iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch

The Apple iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch have a built-in Cisco VPN client.

  1. Open your "Settings" app and navigate to "General" and then "VPN".
  2. Select "Add VPN Configuration..." and then "Type".
  3. Choose "IPSec" (this is the Cisco client) and gp back to 'Add Configuration'.
  4. Set up the next set of fields as follows:
  • Description: Enter a name for this configuration, e.g. 'Edinburgh Uni VPN'.
  • Server: vpn2.net.ed.ac.uk
  • Account: Enter your UUN.
  • Password: "Ask Every Time"
  • Certificate: "Off"
  • Enter your Group Name and Secret, which you can find by visiting https://vpnreg.ucs.ed.ac.uk/ease/ipsecgroup.cgi
  • Proxy: "Off"
  • Finally, press 'Done'.

Using the VPN service

  1. Open your "Settings" app.
  2. Switch the 'VPN' option to on.
  3. You username should be filled out already, so enter your VPN password and press 'OK'.

You should now be connected to the VPN service.
