The computer archive service provides a long-term storage system for computer files.
The archive complements the backup service, which provides short-term backup in case of accidental deletion or disaster.

The computer archive service provides a long-term storage system for computer files. It complements the backup service which provides short-term backup in case of accidental deletion or disaster.
Availability and entitlement
The computer file archive service is available to all members of staff and research postgraduates. It is now largely historical and more appropriate provision is being provided by the Reseach Data Management service through ECDF.
Accessing the archive
The service is provided by an FTP service. The service is available at archive.ed.ac.uk.
