Shibboleth is a "federated" identity management system used to provide access to a variety of web applications, in particular e-journals.
What is Shibboleth
Shibboleth is a “federated” Identity Management system. It provides a common method of authentication and authorisation to a range of providers who are all members of a common “federation”. In the UK education sector this federation is the “UK Access Management Federation”.
Availability and entitlement
All staff, students, visitors and functional accounts that have a presence in the Central Authorisation Service will have a presence within Shibboleth.
