Earlier this month the OER16 Conference, co-chaired by Melissa Highton and Lorna M. Campbell, won Wikimedia UK’s Partnership of the Year Award.
The University of Edinburgh and Information Services’ engagement with Wikimedia UK was acknowledged in the organisation’s recent Wikimedian of the Year Awards when the OER16 Open Culture Conference received the Partnership of the Year award.
OER 16, which was held at the University in April this year, was co-chaired by Melissa Highton, Director of Learning, Teaching and Web Services and Lorna M. Campbell, OER Liaison – Open Scotland, and supported by the Association for Learning Technology.
We are delighted to award Wikimedia UK’s Partnership of the Year to the University of Edinburgh, for the Open Educational Resources Conference in 2016. The strong presence of Wikimedia UK at OER16 was only made possible by your support as conference co-chairs. It gave a high level of visibility to the charity within a prestigious international conference, which will have an ongoing benefit for us as we develop our work within education. On a separate note, we are also delighted that The University of Edinburgh is hosting the first Wikimedian-in-Residence in the higher education sector in Scotland.
