NASA robotics lectures

Dr Rob Ambrose, Principal Technologist for NASA’s Game Changing Development Program, will deliver two lectures in the Informatics Forum, 27 September 2016.

He will give a Distinguished Lecture, hosted by Edinburgh Centre for Robotics, in the morning and speak at iVTuesday – an Informatics Ventures business, enterprise and networking event – in the evening.

Dr Ambrose’s work involves using sensing, mobility, manipulation and human-machine interaction techniques to produce work systems able to solve problems by teaming humans with machines.  He is interested in how humans can use robots to explore space.

Distinguished Lecture

The title of the morning lecture will be Robotic caretakers: enabling the pre-deployment approach to human space exploration. (See abstract).

As well as the talk by Dr Ambrose and another chance to ask questions, the evening event offers networking opportunities and a drinks reception and buffet

Edinburgh Centre for Robotics

The Centre harnesses the potential of 30 world-leading investigators across the Schools of Informatics and Engineering at the University of Edinburgh and the School of Engineering and Physical Sciences and the Department of Computer Science at Heriot-Watt University. Research focuses on the interactions amongst robots, people, environments and autonomous systems, designed and integrated for different applications, scales and modalities.
